Thursday, March 18, 2010 - ANF Group completes the Imperial Point Medical Center Ambulatory Surgery Center for Broward Health.

Fort Lauderdale, FL - Imperial Point Medical Center (IPMC) is proud to announce the opening of its new outpatient surgery center Tuesday, April 6th, 2010.  The Imperial Point Ambulatory Surgery Center is located on the first floor of the Medical Arts Pavilion east of the hospital.

ANF Group, Inc. was delighted to work on another Broward Health project.  "Working with Broward Health's staff is a great collaborative process and we were pleased to move from the completion of the new Emergency Room at Imperial Point, on to this project at the same campus" said Al Fernandez, ANF Group's president.

Nearly two years ago when a local hospital closed, IPMC experienced an influx of surgery requests and requests for medical staff privileges by the displaced surgeons.   In response to this need, IPMC purchased 12,260 square feet of space to create a surgery center in the new Medical Arts Pavilion.

"With an already robust surgery schedule at IPMC, we needed to meet the needs of local surgeons and the community. and an ambulatory surgery center was the answer," said Calvin Glidewell, CEO at IPMC.  "The surgery center can accommodate approximately 500 surgical cases monthly."

The $4.5 million Imperial Point Surgery Center has four dedicated surgical suites and a non-surgical laser room.  Two of the four surgery suites and the laser room will open April 6th,  The suites will be dedicated to ophthalmic surgeries and the laser room will address various other eye problems.  The "eye suites" will have state of the art cataract and retina equipment' lasers and microscopes, including the newest addition in retinal surgery, the Constellation.  The Constellation offers the most advanced retina technology available and provides superior precision and enhanced visualization for the surgeon.  The hospital's surgical team of nurses and technicians specializing in ophthalmology cases, will now join the Surgery Center to bring the same level of care and expertise provided by the hospital.

"We gathered feedback from our team of ophthalmologists and thus have created Eye Suites that will allow them to operate efficiently and with the latest surgical technology," said Nancy Rodriguez, Imperial Point Surgery Center Manager.

Other features of the Imperial Point Surgery Center include;

  • Board certified ophthalmologists who specialize in corneal, retinal, glaucoma and cataracts
  • Dedicated support team specializing in ophthalmology cases
  • Comfortable waiting areas
  • Easy parking and first floor entry

The two other suites will be outfitted for specialized surgeries in late 2010. Orthopedics, otolaryngology, general surgery and podiatry are some of the specialties being considered.

"Patients referred to the Imperial Point Surgery Center can expect the same imperial treatment experienced inside the hospital," said Dr. Manuel Longo, MD, Lead Anesthesiologist/Imperial Point Surgery Center. "The soothing' modern environment is also very impressive."
