Nova Southeastern University Center for Collaborative Research

Nova Southeastern University's Center for Collaborative Research (CCR) is one of the largest and most advanced research facilities in Florida. CCR is a ground-up, LEED Gold Certified project spanning 216,511 square feet and 6 stories constructed with a modular design to maximize departmental collaboration including intensive MEP systems, state-of-the-art research equipment, and other resources. NSU is classified as a research university with “high research activity” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. More than 200 research projects are currently underway at NSU, including studies on cardiovascular disease, anti-cancer therapies, chronic fatigue syndrome, autism, coral reef restoration, stem cells, disorders that cause blindness, wildlife DNA forensics, and more.

Nearly 60% of the interiors were shell space for future expansion. CCR is an interdisciplinary facility including Class-A Wet & Dry Labs (Biology, Hydrology, Geology, Proteomics, Pathology), Chemical Storage, Data Center, Computer Labs, Makers Labs, Research & Computational Labs, Clinical Lab for Cancer Therapy, Open Labs, Cryo Storage, Flow Cytometry, Dark & Cold Rooms, and a Vivarium which included quarantine room, animal transfer, air shower, X-ray, small animal surgery, necropsy, holding rooms, procedure rooms, and sterilization rooms for equipment. In addition, it also houses a state-of-the-art network including the 13th largest IBM computer in the world “The Megladon.”
