Mr. Fernandez is widely recognized as one of the most impartial and assiduous executives in the South Florida Construction Market. He began his career in 1981 as the General Contractor, Qualifying Agent and Vice President of Construction for ANF Construction, as the company was originally known. He held this position until 1992 when he was named President of ANF Group, Inc.

In addition to his role as President, Al is actively involved with several associations in the local community. He serves on the Board for The Memorial Healthcare System Foundation / Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation, and the Susie and Alan B. Levan NSU Ambassadors Board at Nova Southeastern University. Al is also a member of the Construction Association of South Florida, Latin Builders Association, ABC Florida East Coast and an alternate on the Board of Rules and Appeals of Broward County.

In 2003 he received the Excalibur Award for “Small Business Leader of the Year in Broward County” and was honored by the Latin Chamber as “Small Business Person of the Year”. He received the Silver Award in 2008 for “Best Place to Work” by the South Florida Business Journal and the “Corporate Sponsor of the Year” in 2010 by Nova Southeastern University.
Giving Back to the Community
As a South Florida native, he finds it important to promote the prosperity as well as give back to the community that nurtured him. He has participated as a General for the Boys and Girls Club for the last couple of years as well as raised money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the American Diabetes Association. In 2008 he served as Chairman for the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure. In 2009 he created the Tour de Broward, a charity cycling event benefiting Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. These are just a few examples of the community projects he heads and/or participates in every year.
